Cheick Kone was a football player in his younger days but because he was also outspoken and rowdy then, he was always involved in street fights. Deciding to turn his life around, he learned martial arts for self-discipline. His first martial art was Muay Thai and he eventually progressed to learning MMA in 2011 and competing professionally in the sport in 2012.
Kone works as a delivery man, waking up very early in the morning to work so he has sufficient time to train later in the day after he completes his job. He trains five days a week, focussing on Muay Thai, grappling and wrestling. With Muay Thai as his core, it is no surprise Kone prefers to aim high kicks at his opponent’s head or knee strikes at their bodies. His opponent, Askar Mozharov of Ukraine also likes a good standup scrap and their fight will undoubtedly be an explosive one.
He is now equally competent in Muay Thai and BJJ and have won championships in both martial arts. Buffa considers himself a quick learner and able to quickly adapt to his opponents’ strategy. He thinks his match against Konstantin will be an exciting one as no one knows what to expect as both of them are young and just stepping onto the international stage. Outside of the cage, Buffa is a physical education instructor.
